thebigword attends The National Police Language Services Conference and Awards

thebigword, amongst a handful of other language service providers, were present last week at The National Police Language Services Conference.

Without the assistance of spoken and non-spoken interpreters, Police Forces across the UK are unable to effectively communicate with all the members of the public. The police interpreters between them provide face to face and telephone interpreting, non-spoken interpreting and translation services.

The National Police Language Services Conference is an opportunity for police and language service providers to say “Thank you!” to all police interpreters and translators and celebrate some of the amazing assignments that they have attended in order to assist police to serve the public over the past year.

Baroness Coussins delivered the keynote speech and presented the awards to the winners and runners up of the National Police Interpreter of the Year. The awards are a celebration of the work undertaken by all police interpreters, whilst seeking to highlight excellence, determination and dedication.
