The award includes seven police forces: Greater Manchester Police, Lancashire Constabulary, Merseyside Police, Cumbria Constabulary, North Wales Police, Cheshire Constabulary and Counter-Terrorism Policing.
thebigword has been helping connect the Police to linguists to enable discussion with Limited English speakers. thebigword’s network of linguists is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide their services.
This awarded contract will allow thebigword to support these forces through a variety of interpreting services, translation and transcription services (including braille and easy-read), and services for the deaf and deaf/blind.
thebigword will cover all areas of Police, where officers will be engaging with Limited English speakers, such as custody centres and on the beat.
