For the second year in a row, thebigword proudly partnered with Feeding South Florida to fight hunger and support families across the region. Our team volunteered their time to inspect, sort and pack food, helping process an incredible 10,833 meals, totalling nearly 13,000 pounds of food, to support 520 senior citizens’ homes across South Florida.
Feeding South Florida is a leading force in tackling food insecurity across the region, where hunger affects 1 in 5 children and 1 in 6 seniors. Working alongside local retailers, farmers and community organisations, the charity helps ensure surplus food is rescued, checked, sorted and repacked by volunteers before reaching more than 250 non-profit partner agencies.
Making a meaningful difference is an important part of thebigword’s approach to corporate social responsibility. Through community partnerships and volunteering initiatives around the world, the company continues to support causes that create impact beyond its day-to-day work.
While volunteering at Feeding South Florida, our Miami team helped operate the automated conveyor belt system, carefully checking each item to make sure it was safe, sealed and within date before being packed for distribution. From quality control checks to preparing pallets for delivery, the team took an active role in helping ensure families received dependable, nutritious food.
Miami Operations Manager, Richardo Blackford, commented: “Each visit to volunteer with Feeding South Florida reaffirms why this work matters. Every box we packed represented more than food. It represented hope for a family and a reminder that small acts, multiplied by many hands, create real change. This is who we are as a team. We show up, we serve, and we carry that spirit into everything we do. We remain steadfast in our commitment to strengthening, supporting, and uplifting the communities we serve.”
As a not-for-profit organisation Feeding South Florida supports a quarter of the state’s food-insecure population across the region, helping families, children and older people access the nutritious food they need. Through its advocacy, education and community programmes, the organisation is working not only to ease hunger today, but to create lasting change for the future.
For thebigword, taking part in initiatives like this is a reminder of the difference that can be made when teams come together with care, compassion and purpose. To learn more about Feeding South Florida or find out how to volunteer, visit www.feedingsouthflorida.org.
