Taking a step back to reflect on my time at thebigword so far, it amazes me to say that I have already finished my sixth week with the business.
Right from the start, the team have made me feel incredibly welcome. I am fortunate to have joined an amazing and energized team in HR and recruitment and also feel well supported by the wider business, not just in Leeds but across all our global offices.
Like a new start to any job, there is a lot of information to take in, from business practices to new faces. This can be daunting and overwhelming, however I can confidently say that at thebigword, there is a huge emphasis on a friendly welcoming and induction process to ensure new employees feel settled.
I had a busy few weeks of thorough and in-depth induction, meeting people from all around the business and starting to become familiar with their business areas and how we can work well in collaboration on upcoming projects.
Settling into the team
Already, I’ve got stuck into various team meetings, reviews and interviews. I’ve got to know new colleagues both in person and over Skype, with teams all over the globe. With a great emphasis on getting colleagues together to enjoy fun activities and bond as a team, I’ve even braved joining thebigword’s choir!
I have started to work closely with key stakeholders throughout the business, focusing on reducing agency usage. I am also focused on digitally transforming our external brand, by increasing our online recruitment and talent presence, improving the recruitment process for everyone involved, and streamlining global recruitment to name just a few of my key projects.
On the horizon
There has been so much to learn and lots of exciting things to start implementing. It’s safe to say that I am looking forward to what the next six weeks, months and years bring.
